— WHAT WE DO
Free Bible Course
28 Bible Lessons
-
The course is meant to help the prisoner with personal investigation, or searching, of Scripture. The focus is investigating Scripture oneself, much as the early Berean Christians "examined the Scriptures daily."
The course serves as a silent teacher: a resource that the student can tap into during the long hours when he or she does not have access to the chapel or its teaching programs.
The goal is to establish the young Christian in the Word, helping her to develop a personal relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, to sustain her as she walks through her personal "valley of the shadow of death,” and to help her learn how to feed her soul from the Word of God for the rest of her life.
-
The course contains four sections:
1) Investigating the Gospel of John.
2) Investigating our life in Christ.
3) Investigating the teachings of the Bible.
4) Investigating Christian Character.
-
The prisoner receives two lessons at a time, each a single leaflet containing questions, Bible references, instructions, and memory verses.
Using his own Bible, the student writes down concise answers in his own words and memorizes the two optional verses recommended with each lesson.
He puts the lessons in the envelope that we’ve provided, puts a stamp on it, and mails it to our Home Office in Castro Valley.
There, our knowledgeable volunteers grade the lessons and record the scores. We return the studies to the student, along with the next two lessons.
The course can follow the student as he moves through the system, and to his home when that time comes.
An attractive, gold-sealed certificate is awarded upon completion of the 28 lessons. We invite prisoners to enroll their wives and sweethearts in the program as well, at no charge.
