July 2025 – Tanzania

Dear FUMI Family:

Greetings from FUMI – Tanzania.

It is truly encouraging to hear that brothers and sisters are remembering us in prayer regarding the work we are doing here in Tanzania to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Satan is an enemy of God’s truth, and every good work of God often comes with its own set of challenges. As God’s people, when we continue to serve faithfully amidst trials and suffering, we demonstrate our love for God — and He promises to be with us in every situation.

One major challenge that we are currently facing is the loss of financial support that was helping us to print Bible study materials and to support volunteers with transport fares to visit prison centers every week.

Three prisons had already begun to use these study materials, with inmates studying the Word of God independently, answering questions, and meeting in small groups to discuss the lessons. This greatly contributed to these inmates’ spiritual growth and knowledge of God.

I have not yet received feedback from the office regarding how they might continue to support us following the difficulties in sending funds for this ministry. My family has not been affected personally by the lack of funds, as all the support received was entirely directed toward the work of God.

Upcoming Regional Prison Ministry Conferences

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support. By the grace of God, I will begin a series of prison ministry conferences in different regions as follows:

  • August 13–14, 2025 – Songwe Region:
We will host a prison ministry conference bringing together pastors from various churches and local volunteers. The goal is to encourage them and to strengthen their commitment by reminding them that they are serving God directly — and that He will reward them accordingly.

    • “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters … It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23–24)

  • August 19–20, 2025 – Iringa:
We will gather with pastors and volunteers from different areas. Brother Andrew G. Mwakapala, who has completed both CPW and IBI training, will co-teach and assist in the training sessions. He is a committed servant in various areas of God’s work.

  • August 22–24, 2025 – Morogoro:
Together with Brother Andrew, we will conduct a prison ministry conference, meeting with pastors and volunteers from a variety of churches.

  • August 26–29, 2025 – Arusha:
We will hold a seminar focused on prison ministry, bringing together church leaders from across the region. Please pray that through this seminar, we will raise new volunteers in Arusha who will become instruments of God to bring His message to inmates.

  • August 31 – September 7, 2025 – Various Locations:
We will conduct a multi-region prison ministry seminar, attended by pastors and volunteers from different areas.

July 2025 – Ghana

Hello, brothers Paul and Tim:

Brethren, Shalom and good evening. By God's grace, I arrived in Accra from the ESRM farm in the Eastern Region.

Praise God that the team made progress engaging in farming activities for the near minor rainy season from mid-August.

God in His abundance and mercies provided 75 kilos of Gari from the farm.

The Gari will be shared at the adult Twi language class in the Nsawam male prison reform school, once a week for six inmate students. This will help encourage the attendance of other inmates, for the sharing of God's Word to them as we teach them the Twi language and connect with the scriptures.

The Koforidua local prison with nine inmates in the adult literacy class will also receive their ration of Gari. The sharing will follow a swift manner like the Nsawam male prison.

This project will start in September for Nsawam Medium Security male prison reform school if God wills, but Koforidua local prison continues their adult literacy education classes nonstop.

May God bless FUMI for supporting the ESRM prison ministry.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” (Proverbs 31:8)

Help or encourage someone who is overlooked or mistreated.

May God bless you.

Sincerely in Christ Jesus,

Michael Tetteh

What is Gari?

Gari from Ghana is a granular food product made from grated, fermented, and roasted cassava. It is similar to couscous but with a coarser texture.

Gari is a staple food in West Africa, including Ghana, and can be prepared in various ways, such as being eaten with hot/cold water and soup/stew, or soaked in milk with sugar and ground nuts.

FUMI's 67th Annual Banquet

This year’s annual banquet was a true blessing that exceeded all expectations. The event, which serves as our primary fundraising opportunity, unfolded into an inspiring evening filled with testimonies and good news.

Among the highlights was hearing from our brother Kent, an extraordinary volunteer who not only dedicates his time to our cause but also ministers to the homeless. Additionally, the testimonies of Margus and Albert, both recently released from prison, resonated deeply with everyone present. Their stories vividly conveyed the transformative power of the Gospel, showcasing how their lives were completely transformed within prison walls.

As we celebrated our 67th year of ministry to individuals behind bars, our hearts overflowed with gratitude towards those who attended and supported the cause through their heartfelt prayers and generous financial contributions. It is through these collective efforts that we are able to continue our mission for many more years to come, or until the day He returns.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who graced the banquet with their presence. Your support and presence truly make a difference and for that, we are eternally grateful.

May God bless you abundantly for your unwavering dedication to this noble cause.
