FUMI’s Statement of Faith
A statement of faith, also known as a creed or a confession of faith, is a concise summary of the core beliefs and doctrines held by a religious group or community. It serves as a declaration or expression of their shared faith and provides a framework for understanding and interpreting scripture.
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God; they are God-breathed – and thereby inerrant in the original manuscripts, infallible – and thereby the final authority for faith and life. We believe in the principle doctrines of the Protestant Reformation commonly called “The Five Solas”:
SOLA SCRIPTURA: That God’s Special Revelation is to be found in the Scriptures Alone.
SOLA FIDE: That God’s work of Justification is by Faith Alone.
SOLA GRATIA: That God’s work of Salvation is by Grace Alone.
SOLUS CHRISTUS: That we are Saved by Christ Alone.
SOLI DEO GLORIA: All for the Glory of God Alone.
Our common goal is to proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ, introducing others to Him, and teaching them to follow Him. This we believe:
The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, burial, bodily resurrection and ascension.
That the salvation of lost and sinful men is by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
In the resurrection of the redeemed unto eternal blessedness in heaven, and the resurrection of the lost to eternal condemnation in hell.
In the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit to enable the believer in his daily walk.
In the church, which is His body, composed of every redeemed believer.
In the personal, bodily glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
